I decided to make The Story of Judee Sill (recently posted here) into a real actual minicomic as I put a lot more time than I usually do into drawing it. As it’s only small and short (just 10-pages long) you can buy a copy of it for barely more than the price of an envelope and a stamp (£1.25 inc p&p!). Whilst I was at it, I’ve made a brand new SHOP page where you can buy all comics I’ve ever done and stuff from other projects I’m involved with, should it be of interest to you huzzah!
I recently did this drawing for my pal Davros’ band – they are occasionally allowed out in public so catch them where you can, one of the bestest live acts you’ll ever see with your eyes (perhaps barring The Deadly Stab-Ups, but that’s a whole different type of scary).
A brand new comic book I’ve recently drawn about the musician and songwriter Judee Sill, released online here today as part of Hannah Festival week, celebrating the release of this year’s Directory in which I am proud to be included as Missy Tassles, as well as The Girl Next Door (see my new CD release this week) and Black Light Art Collective. The contributors to Hannah Directory are chosen for their enterprising spirit, making great things happen from the bottom up, often starting with no resources except their passion, commitment and imagination. “I’m delighted that Missy Tassles is involved in Hannah Directory this year,” says Andrew Wilson, who co-ordinates the Directory.
The Hannah Directory, now in it’s third year, features more than fifty contributors in towns and cities across the north and includes fun, fascinating and innovative activities in fields including the arts, music, business and social organisation. It promotes the possibility of cooperation between people and places in England’s north for the common good.
THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR ME! Launched online TODAY as part of the Hannah festival – my new CD (with music and a video online also)!
TODAY – Tuesday 9th June 2015 sees the first ever CD release, 5-track EP (limited edition of 50) from The Girl Next Door – along with a brand new video and audio previews online (below). The Girl Next Door is a solo project of Missy Tassles, dilettante extraordinaire, whose main projects include Black Light Ray and Black Light Art Collective alongside keeping her own cartoon diary blog.
The Girl Next Door (and Missy Tassles) are proud to be included in this year’s Hannah Directory – released this week as part of Hannah Festival week. The contributors to Hannah Directory are chosen for their enterprising spirit, making great things happen from the bottom up, often starting with no resources except their passion, commitment and imagination. The Girl Next Door/Missy Tassles is included among the best examples of that in the country.

I was lucky enough to get a mention in this week’s BIG ISSUE IN THE NORTH (page 5) – but perhaps more interestingly I also met and had a fascinating chat with the Big Issue seller featured on page 17 who writes up his recollections of being on remand in Strangeways in 1990 during the riot. BUY IT.
